How it all started...
Captured By Jess was founded in 2023, I was working as a childminder at the time and had enquired for a family photoshoot with a few photography companies, i was speechless when i was getting quotes over £250-£300 for the bare minimal!

Friends and family memebers always told me i was really good at taking photos, although i didnt have much confidence, along with the fact these photos were taken on a mobiles phone 100% of the time haha. but with that said i decided
for the cost of a photoshoot i could get a camera and try myself!

at the time i was earning very little after  being diagnosed with a heart condition and loosing most of my child minding children in the pandemic! i had a bad credit score and was still receiving benefit support with very little in the bank..

I thought to myself... What next? if i buy this camera how can i make the most from it? my mother was a single mum of 4 with mental health issues and drug and alcohol abuse so all i ever knew was struggle growing up..
and with my struggle comes this passion to always want to help others.

Skip forward and i decide to get a camera  on credit (pay nothing for 12 months) and i had around £50 spare to get some little bits off amazon. I also got some free studio lights and a backdrop stand off a lady giving away on facebook market place and began offering photoshoots for FREE in my community to build my brand and portfolio. I eventually  began charging £30 for families on low incomes, this was so i could make money to invest back into the business and began doing wedding photography.
once this took off  and reviews came in, portfolio was built i wanted to expand to parties, so i began doing event photography and a pop up photobooth where i hand made the props myself with white card and lolly sticks,

and brought some inflatables  off amazon for £15 taking photos on my camera for clients. This was just the beginning...

Over the next 3 years i saved every penny i made and invested in more and more to provide party services alongside photography  for those on low incomes and with low budgets
